The work presents a nude female figure, sitting naturally on a green carpeted floor. Her spontaneous posture reveals the mixture of tension and rest of a vulnerable body: leaning on the right flank, with her legs bent, she rests her right hand on the floor and rests her left hand on her ankle, in a gesture of introspection and recollection. Her head, inclined, remains in a slight half-light in contrast to the rest of her body, which is bathed in a direct light that highlights the young and smooth forms of her anatomy. Despite the beauty of her body, the figure does not respond to the classical canons of harmonious and idealized voluptuousness. Her corporeality, far from academic perfection, is inscribed in a tradition closer to naturalism, with echoes of Delacroix's nudes, where the flesh becomes a vehicle for emotional expression. The modeling, worked with subtlety, plays with pearly shades whose whiteness contrasts with a slight glow in the countenance of closed eyelids. The dark green of the ground and background acts as a chromatic counterpoint to the flesh tones, underlining the luminosity of the skin. It is an intimate portrait, in which the artist seeks not only to capture the model's appearance, but to transmit her state of mind through the language of the flesh, in which light, color and texture combine to materialize a contained emotion.
