Painter and engraver, Romà Vallès is formed in the School of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi of Barcelona. He then travels around Europe and is a boarder at the Residence for Painters of the Alhambra (1952) and at El Paular (1955). Professor of drawing in several secondary schools, he combines his artistic vocation with that of pedagogue, being the author of several books and organizer of exhibitions on the subject. He was also co-founder, together with Cirici Pellicer and Antonio Cumella, of the FAD Art School in Barcelona (1959). From the fifties onwards, he held individual exhibitions in outstanding places such as the Ateneo and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona (1959 and 1960), the Fernando de la Fe Gallery in Madrid (1957), the René Metrás Gallery also in Barcelona (several exhibitions between 1962 and 1983), etc. He also held numerous exhibitions abroad, especially in Switzerland and also in the rest of Europe and in the main South American capitals, as well as in India. He took part in the São Paulo Biennial (1961), the New York World Fair (1964), the New Delhi Triennial (1968), the International Kunstmesse Art of Basel (1972, 1973 and 1974), the International Salon of Aix-en-Provence (1982) and the International Exhibition of Contemporary Art of Rosario, Argentina (1985), among others. Among the numerous awards he has received throughout his career, it is worth mentioning the Gold Medal of the Swiss Prize for Abstract Painting in Lausanne, the Prize of the National Contest of Fine Arts in Madrid, the Grand Prize of the Biennial of Painting of Zamora and the National Prize "Juan Ramón Masoliver" of Barcelona. He is represented at the Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid, the MACBA in Barcelona, the Museo de Arte Abstracto in Cuenca and the Museo de Bellas Artes in Munich, Seville, Zamora, Sabadell and Barcelona, among others.
