Juan Carlos Méndez has a degree in Advertising Art and Illustration from the School of Applied Arts and Artistic Trades of Madrid. Since his beginnings, he has excelled in the field of realism, an artistic trend that has defined his career and that he has perfected through his training in various institutions, including the ARAUCO Foundation, based in Chinchón. In 1996, he broadened his knowledge by attending a painting course directed by the prestigious master Antonio López in Jerez de la Frontera.
With more than two decades of experience, he has developed an outstanding work as a teacher, working as a Professor of Painting. In 2005, he founded the "Estudio de Arte Los Ángeles" in Madrid, where he carried out an intense academic and artistic activity. He also taught drawing and painting for four years at the Polytechnic University of Madrid.
His work is characterized by a solid base in realism and a refined technique that gives his creations an exceptional quality. His artistic production covers contemporary themes in which the treatment of color and light stand out. Among his most recognized compositions, his paintings of lollipops stand out, in which he manages to capture a vibrant chromatic explosion and a masterful play of reflections in the plastic wrappings. Likewise, his link with the city of Madrid, his birthplace, and his fascination for the sea and water are reflected in his depictions of urban and maritime landscapes, including his views of Venice. His artistic evolution has maintained a balance between simplicity, compositional harmony and meticulousness in the execution of his works.
Throughout his artistic career, Juan Carlos Méndez has participated in numerous exhibitions both nationally and internationally. In 2024, he exhibited his work at Sheldon Fine Art in Naples, Florida, and at SPA Fine Art in New York. In 2023, he was part of a group exhibition at the Fornara Gallery in Marbella. Previously, he exhibited on several occasions at Galería Puerta de Alcalá, with solo shows in May 2019 and May 2017, as well as group exhibitions in December 2021, December 2020, December 2019 and in 2016. In 2014, he presented a solo exhibition at Botica das Artes Gallery in La Coruña, while in 2012 he participated in group exhibitions at Sammer Gallery in Marbella and Jorge Alcolea Gallery in Madrid. In 2009 and 2008, he exhibited his work at the SOKOA Gallery, highlighting a show dedicated to realist painting, in addition to a group exhibition at the Galería de Arte P.E.A. His prolific exhibition activity evidences his consolidation in the field of realist art and his continuous artistic evolution.
