From there he went to Austria, Germany and Switzerland, and during his travels his painting evolved towards Nordic impressionism. In 1912 he obtained an honorary mention at the National Exhibition in Madrid. He returned to Toledo in 1914, and the following year he held his first individual exhibition in Madrid.
