BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

FERNANDO ADAM (Caracas, 1955).
"The blue ride".2015.
Acrylic, oil and journal print on canvas.
Signed.
Measurements: 100 x 100 cm.
Fernando Adam studies art and design at the Neumann Institute in Caracas. Since his participation in the Biennial of Drawing organized in the Museum Alejandro Otero of Caracas (1988) and in the Museum of Contemporary Art of Maracay (1989) his exhibitions in his country and abroad, in individual and collective, has been constant. He held his first individual exhibition at the Minotauro Gallery in Caracas (1991). He currently works and resides in Barcelona. In recent years he has participated in the following fairs: Palm Beach 3, Contemporary Art Fair (Mark Hachem Gallery, USA); Art Madrid (Jordi Barnadas Gallery), Chicago Art Fair (Mark Hachem Gallery, Chicago), Art London (Mark Hachem Gallery), Istanbul Art Fair, MIART Contemporary Art Fair; AAF Autum NY (V. del Art Gallery), New York; AAF Autum NY (V. del Art Gallery), New York; Art Madrid (Jordi Barnadas Gallery), Chicago Art Fair (Mark Hachem Gallery, Chicago), Art London (Mark Hachem Gallery), Istanbul Art Fair, MIART Contemporary Art Fair. del Art Gallery), New York; Art Miami (Mark Hachem Gallery), Glasgow Art Fair; FIA, Iberoamerican Art Fair (Gallery 39, Caracas), RED DOT Art Fair (Miami), MiArt. Jordi Barnadas Gallery. Milan... He has held several individual exhibitions with the Parisian gallery Mark Hachem Gallery and with Jordi Barnadas in Barcelona. In 2002 he received 1st Prize "Mercedes Benz", A. Prints. Barcelona; in 2007 he was selected for the Michetti Salon ("Nuovo Realismo"), Michetti Foundation. Chieti, Italy. The domestic space is the locus from which Adam examines subjective notions of identity, displacement and temporality. In his paintings of calm atmospheres, the house is a mutable element that floats in timeless spaces, in metaphysical landscapes. Or it is a place where memory is fixed, where presences are manifested as absences in silent interiors stripped of the superfluous, where there seems to be no dichotomy between staying and moving. Empty chairs, solitary shopping baskets or stairs leaning against the smooth walls of rooms devoid of coordinates reinforce the sensation of uprootedness and spectral evanescence.
