He begins his formation in the School of the Lonja and in the academy Martínez Altés, to later complete his studies in the academy Borrell, where he was a fellow disciple of the members of the group "El rovell de l'ou". His first exhibition was a group show at the Sala Parés in 1895. Four years later he travels to Paris to study at the Colarossi Academy. He returned to Barcelona in 1901, and presented an exhibition of views of Paris and Barcelona at the Sala Parés, which was the first fully impressionist exhibition by a Catalan painter. In 1932 he took part in an exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum in New York, and also showed his work in Amsterdam (1933). He is represented at the MACBA, which in 1948 dedicated a large retrospective to him as a posthumous tribute.
