BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
JOSÉ MARCED FURIÓ, (Villajoyosa, Alicante, 1889 - Valencia, 1967).
"Still life".
Oil on canvas.
Signed in the lower left corner.
Measurements: 65 x 85 cm; 86 x 100 cm (frame).
Artist formed in the School of Fine Arts of San Carlos, where he was a disciple of Garnelo, Salvá, Palau and Ferrer. He worked from the beginning within the molds of realism, preferably cultivating the genre of portraiture, the composition of figures, still lifes, interior flowers and genre scenes, within a realism that drinks from that Dutch. His paintings of sure and colorful brushstroke worked portraits, typical prints, figures, landscape and, above all, still lifes and flowers, being the genres most requested by his clients. His work and various commissions led him to travel assiduously through Barcelona, Valencia and Alicante, until he gradually established himself in Valencia, becoming one of the most recognized artists of his time. His participation in the Fallas helped to a great extent. He returned frequently to Alicante, where he made some exhibitions. The following year he built on his own the bonfires of the Plaza Alfonso XII (now City Hall) and Plaza Isabel II (now Gabriel Miró). He received several awards for these monuments. He spent the rest of his life in Valencia, where he died at the age of 78. He held exhibitions all over the country.
