JOAQUIM MARSILLACH CODONY (Olot, Girona, 1905 - 1986).
"Landscape", 1941.
Oil on canvas.

Measurements: 33 x 46 cm; 45 x 58 cm (frame)
Joaquim Marsillach was formed in the School of Fine Arts of Olot, where he was a disciple of Enrique Galwey, Ignasi Mallol and Xavier Nogués. He held his first individual exhibition in 1935 in Barcelona, where he continued to exhibit regularly since then, as well as in other cities such as Olot, Tarrassa and Madrid (Biosca Gallery, 1946). His style follows that of the landscape school of Olot, with a modern and realistic tendency, although with a more impressionistic vision. In addition to the natural landscape of different corners of Catalonia, Marsillach also painted urban landscapes and flowers, both in oil and watercolor, gouache, ink and other techniques. He is currently represented in several private collections.
In this canvas Marsillach reflects, with his usual mixture of subjectivity and realistic fidelity to the natural model, a corner of the Catalan landscape. This green landscape, full of light and dominated by a warm atmosphere that transmits serenity, allows the author to recreate himself in the chromatic capture of the landscape, subtly nuanced by a careful study of the light that creates soft hallmarks of shadows and lights.
