Elena Paredes begins in 1942 her pictorial formation with the masters Baixas, first, and Santasusagna later. She also attended some classes at the School of Sant Jordi. In 1962 she held her first individual exhibition at the Ateneo Barcelonés, and soon began to receive important awards. In the May Salon of 1960 he had already received the Torres García Prize, and in 1965 he was awarded the Joan Miró Prize. Two years later she won the First Tina del Port Painting Prize. Soon after, she was invited to participate in an exhibition of Catalan art at the National Gallery of Ottawa. In 1968 she participated in group exhibitions in Milan and London, continuing with her incessant exhibition activity. Her art is part of a new expressionist figuration, in which feelings of anguish and oppression are often represented. Paredes is currently represented at MACBA.
