Painter and engraver, Xavier Serra de Rivera studied at the School of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi and at the Conservatory of the Arts of the Book, both in Barcelona, and in 1967 he joined the Tarot group. Initially dedicated to engraving, in 1969 he held his first solo exhibition at the Sala de Arte Moderno in Barcelona, and later expanded his work to drawing and painting. In 1970 he went to study in Florence thanks to the Castellblanch scholarship, and five years later he was invited to the São Paulo Biennial. Since the seventies he has also held solo exhibitions in galleries in Barcelona, Vic, Valencia, Paris and Munich. He has also participated in international fairs such as FIAC in Paris and Arco in Madrid. He has received several awards and is represented at the Centre National Georges Pompidou in Paris, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Seville, the Gabinete de Estampas, the Museum of Modern Art in Madrid and the Vila Casas Foundation, among other public and private collections.
