DESCRIPTION
JOSÉ MARÍA MARTÍNEZ LOZANO (Barcelona, 1923).

Measurements: 50 x 61 cm; 74 x 86 cm (frame).
Painter and watercolorist, Martínez Lozano was formed between Barcelona and Venice, and debuted individually in Figueras in 1946. Since then he held exhibitions of his work in Madrid and Barcelona, and in Llançà he founded the School of Arts and Crafts. In 1963 he won the City of Tarrassa Prize at the Biennial of Painting, and since 1965 he has held exhibitions of his work in France, Italy, England and Belgium. In 1975 he received the National Watercolor Prize, and in 1989 he promoted the creation of the Museum of Watercolor-Foundation J. Martínez Lozano of Llançà, which currently preserves most of his work. Specializing in landscape and marine painting, he was president of the Agrupación de Acuarelistas de Barcelona between 1994 and 1998.
