Painter based in Esplugues de Llobregat since 1965, Francisco Benavente began his training in Spain and later expanded it thanks to a scholarship in the German city of Ahrensburg. He is an honorary member of the Mediterranean Contemporary Art Center of San Francisco, Extremeño of the Year 1887 in plastic arts, and honorary mention and Gold Medal of the city of Esplugues de Llobregat (Barcelona). Specializing in bullfighting, although he also works the nude, landscape and portrait, and nicknamed "the painter of light" by German critics due to his impressionistic style of Levantine character, Benavente has held numerous solo exhibitions throughout his career, both in Spain and in Italy, Venezuela, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Japan and the United States.
