"Peonies", 1963.

Joaquín Ilundáin Solano began his training in a self-taught way, painting in the middle of nature. He held his first individual exhibition at the Museum of Navarre in 1962, and a year later he obtained a scholarship from the Provincial Council of Navarre that allowed him to study at the San Fernando School of Fine Arts in Madrid. Around 1965 he traveled to Paris to broaden his training, and in the seventies he also spent time in Hamburg and Venice, finally returning to Navarre in 1980. His exhibition activity spread throughout Spain, especially after he won a medal at the Vitoria Biennial in 1968.
