BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

LUIS GINER BUENO, (Godella, Valencia, 1935).
"Fisherwomen".
Oil on board.
Signed in the lower right corner.
Measurements: 28 x 17 cm; 52 x 40 cm (frame).
Luis Giner Bueno began his training with his father, Luis Giner Valls, and later entered the School of Arts and Crafts in Valencia. He is the brother of the painter Javier Giner Godella. In 1952 and 1953 he won the First Prize for Oil and Watercolor with a study trip to Paris, organized by the Obra Sindical de Valencia. He was also distinguished with the First Prize of the Biennial of Moncada (Valencia) in 1956, with the Silver Medal of the National Exhibition of Alicante, the Goerlich-Miquel Prize of the Circle of Fine Arts of Valencia, and the Prize of the Real Maestranza of Seville in the Autumn Exhibition (1968). He made his individual debut at the Sala Lafuente in Valencia, and since then he has held individual exhibitions in Palma de Mallorca and, since the sixties, at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Valencia. He also showed his work in the Llorens room in Barcelona, where he will repeat his exhibitions, and in the Ingres gallery in Madrid, in 1983 and 1898. He held other exhibitions in various Spanish cities and in the United States. He is a member of the Circle of Fine Arts of Valencia and member of the Spanish Association of Painters and Sculptors of Madrid. Continuing the luminism of the Valencian school, Giner Bueno builds a sketchy and loose style through which he captures with color and luminosity the places he has traveled and the people he has met. His work combines technical precision with an almost abstract sense of color and brushstroke, refined and complex. His agile stroke reproduces a vivid image of nature and the rural environment, which he exalts to the point of lyricism. He is especially attracted to the genre scenes offered by the streets and squares of the villages. His palette is rich in tonalities and his brushstroke is fleeting and accurate, which allows him to elaborate works full of fin-de-siècle references, richly effective. Giner Bueno's works are owned by the Municipal Archive Museum of Valencia and the Museum of the Real Maestranza de Caballería of Seville, as well as by numerous Spanish official entities and European and American collectors.
