CARMEN VENTOSA (Barcelona, 1919-1965).
"Dancers in the break".

On the back, it is written: "C. Ventosa. Posthumous work, unfinished painting, 1965".
Measurements: 100 x 80 cm; 113 x 94 cm (frame).
Two dancers rest after a performance. The fatigue is noticed in their postures and countenances. The author introduces us into the intimacy of this scene, which exudes beauty thanks to the subtlety with which she communicates the relaxation that follows the rapture of the dance. The brunette looks at us with her large, clear, intelligent eyes. The blonde ignores us, withdrawn in her thoughts. The tulle skirts have been recreated with vaporous brushstrokes, using for the maillots tight touches that emulate the satin smoothness of satin.
This was the last work of Carmen Ventosa, a painter who boasted great technical skill and artistic sensitivity. She specialized in the female figure.
