BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

English school of the first half of the 20th century.
"Horse race".
Oil on canvas.
It has a patch on the back.
Measurements: 45 x 54 cm.
Oil painting showing a horse race on a grassy road, with a flat landscape in the background, under a clear sky. This painting is included in a long common tradition, especially in England: with the spread of horse racing and other equestrian sports, the figure of the painter specialized in painting equines became common; not in the sense of equestrian portraiture more related to tradition, or in the line of those idealized landscapes with animals in them and memory of the ideal Arcadia, but almost as if they were authentic portraits of horses, with the corresponding drawing, the possibility of identifying the animals not only by their color, but also by the shape of the hooves or the rump, for example.
