Néstor Sanmiguel was always linked in a certain way to the artistic circles of his environment, but during great part of his life he was dedicated to the work of patronista until in 1999 he took the right decision to dedicate himself completely to the art. For years he was a relatively unknown although respected artist, but from 2012, when he began to exhibit in the Maisterravalbuena Gallery, his success rises unstoppably. Currently his works can be seen in different European galleries and his participation in the most important contemporary art fairs, where he achieves great results, does not leave indifferent.
His creations show the evolution of his personality, concerns and worries. His works from the 80's and 90's have a strength and tear linked to his critical stance against the regime, his union work and his political commitment. The most recent ones focus more on human feelings, on those of others, not on his own, as a witness of events. In 2022, he held a solo exhibition at the Museo de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid, "La Peripecia del autómata", which could also be seen at Artium, Vitoria.
