Enric Mestre i Estellés is a Valencian ceramist, sculptor and painter. He was a student of Alfons Blat, from whom he learned the virtuosity of enamel, and a constant and rigorous field of technical research throughout his career. In 1958 he obtained the title of professor of drawing at the School of San Carlos, in 1970 he graduated as an artistic ceramics expert and in 1972 he graduated in Applied Arts, in the Specialty of Ceramics at the School of Applied Arts of Valencia. Finally he graduated in Fine Arts at the Faculty of San Carlos de Valencia in 1982. He has dedicated more than 32 years of professional career to teaching.
He began to exhibit since 1964 and his work has been exhibited in Spain, Germany, Switzerland, England, France, Denmark and Japan. He considers himself a percussionist thanks to Alfons Blat, who opened his eyes to the possibilities of modern ceramics, he said in 2009.
In 1979 he was appointed Member of the International Academy of Ceramics and in 1983 he was named Académico de número of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Carlos de Valencia. The University of Valencia gave him a scholarship in 1964 at the Lycée Technique Henry Brisson de Vierzon to study high-temperature artistic glazes.
