Of late vocation, Vicente Prego began painting in Madrid around 1972 and began his artistic training at the School of Arts and Crafts in Santiago de Compostela -he graduated in 1982-, which he extended with a degree in Fine Arts at the University of Vigo in the first half of the nineties. His exhibition activity began in 1985, and, at the beginning, his artistic career was closely linked to the Trinta Gallery in Santiago, with which he traveled to Madrid for three consecutive editions of the ARCO fair. He also participated in the first two exhibitions organized by Unión Fenosa, in which he was selected, and in the II and V Certamen de Artes Plásticas Isaac Díaz Pardo, in 1991 and 1998 respectively, in which two of his works were acquired. He has worked with a good number of Galician galleries and has exhibited his work in individual and collective exhibitions in many Galician cities, Madrid, Tarragona, Lisbon (Portugal) and Lorient (France). It is worth mentioning his participation in 2008 in the collective 2D XXI Arte Galega, held in Paris and organized jointly by Caixanova and the Cervantes Institute, as well as in the exhibition Torremanía, in support of the candidacy of the Tower of Hercules as a World Heritage Site, organized by the City Council of A Coruña. His work can be found in renowned collections of Galician institutions and museums such as the Diputación Provincial de A Coruña, Unión Fenosa, Xunta de Galicia, Consorcio de Santiago, Abanca, Universidad de A Coruña and Universidad de Santiago de Compostela.
