Freixas Cortés began his training at the School of La Lonja and with Francesc Labarta, later extending his studies first in Paris, where he stayed between 1949 and 1952, and later in Rome. His experiences abroad, as well as his exhibitions in Paris, Brussels, Caracas, Mexico, etc., gave the painter a cosmopolitan character, a discreetly Frenchified refinement that we often find in the great masters of the Catalan school (Casas, Rusiñol, Anglada, Sunyer). Especially decisive for Freixas Cortés was the artistic legacy of Pierre Bonnard; the possibility of knowing first hand the works of the Norman painter definitively inclined his work towards color, conceived as the main tool of pictorial expression. Throughout his career this painter exhibited his work individually in various Spanish and French cities, as well as in the United States, Japan, Germany, Mexico and Venezuela, and also took part in official exhibitions such as the National Fine Arts or the Salón de Mayo in Barcelona.
