The artist José María Larrondo belongs to the group of artists living in Seville that emerged in the mid-eighties, coinciding with the publication of the magazine Figura and the opening of the gallery La Máquina Española. Of that generation, Larrondo is one of its most outstanding representatives, a sign of which is that he was hired by Juana de Aizpuru gallery (founder of ARCO). Among his numerous solo exhibitions are 'Starfighters', Pizarro Gallery, Alhaurin el Grande (Malaga); 'Tema de nuestro tiempo', Juana de Aizpuru Gallery, Madrid; 'War of words', The Living Room Gallery', Amsterdam; or 'For your eyes only', Birger Arnesen Gallery, Copenhagen. Pedro Pizarro writes in the text of the exhibition 'Palmeras de Fuego: cuatro décadas de coleccionismo del Colegio de Arquitectos de Málaga' (Palms of Fire: four decades of collecting at the Malaga College of Architects). and in which he is represented, "the universe of his work is highly metaphorical. The images are fixed in the pupil like needles and serve him to reflect on the very condition of culture and its role in society; conceptual reinterpretation of reality with humor and sarcasm; his work establishes malevolent mechanisms that the viewer has to guess although they are hardly neutralized".
