BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
EDUARDO MORALES (Havana, 1868-1938).
"Rickshaw", 1913.
Oil on panel.
Signed and dated in the lower right corner.
Measurements: 19 x 26.5 cm; 26 x 34 cm (frame).
The compositional theme of the works of Eduardo Morales makes mention to his origins in Havana: horse-drawn carriages at the entrance of sugar mills, rice plantations or typically Cuban landscapes. The work presented here, faithful to his technique and composition, shows a landscape built on horizontals. The space is skillfully constructed by reinforcing the atmosphere through the successful use of color, alternating neutral tones with intense touches of green, yellow and brown. In the center of the scene, a peasant from the Caribbean country, mounted on a horse, drives a carriage that is completely empty.
