DESCRIPTION
GEORGES PHILIPPE JACQMOTTE (Brussels, 1876-1949).
"Female portrait in front of the dressing table".

In the production of Georges Philippe Jacmotte rarely appear subjects like the one we now present. A lady with her torso uncovered sits in front of the dressing table and looks at herself in the mirror, examining her appearance while she prepares, probably, to go to a society party. The painter concentrates all his attention on the figure's back and the bottles of cologne and potentones that are presented on the table. The young woman's face, reflected in the mirror, is subtly outlined, allowing us to guess her beautiful features. The pictorial treatment is agile and meticulous, with a light and rapid brushstroke for the background, which draws on the contributions of the Impressionists and Post-Impressionists.
Georges Philippe Jacqmotte was a painter who participated in numerous exhibitions in his hometown, including the exhibitions at the "Le Sillon" Circle in Brussels in 1896, at the "Salon Triennal de Bruxelles" in 1903, at the "Salon de Printemps de Bruxelles" in 1910 and 1912, at the "Cercle d'Art d'Uccle" in 1917, in Brussels in 1918, at the "Saint-Georges" Gallery in Mons in 1922.
