DESCRIPTION
STANISLAW MIECZYSLAW D?BICKI (Poland, 1866 - 1924).
"Portrait of a gentleman", c. 1920.
Pastel on paper.
Measurements: 53,5 x 45 cm; 65 x 56 cm (frame).
Polish painter who trained with Christian Griepenkerl at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and later with Luszczkiewicz at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. He then attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich between 1890 and 1891 and finally the Académie Colarossi in Paris. His first job was as a teacher at the School of the Ceramic Industry in Ko?omyja, and then at a private drawing school run by Marceli Harasimowicz in Lwów. In 1909 he returned to Kraków to work as an assistant at the Academy of Art. During this period, she also taught occasionally at the School of Fine Arts for women.
