Still life resolved with a realistic language, where the artist arranges a multitude of elements that define his technical skill and compositional mastery. In a sober interior and following the baroque still life tradition, the author creates a scene configured in the foreground, although in a superimposed and piled up way. The piece flees from the strict frontality, usual in the genre, and has been configured through a marked diagonal that brings depth to the scene.
Luis Muriel Lopez began his artistic training at an early age, after which he received lessons from the artist Carlos Hes, of whom he became a disciple. He also trained at the Special School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving. Despite his interest and skill in painting, Luis Muriel also excelled as a set designer. Following in the footsteps of his father Don Luis Muriel y Amador, who worked in the conception of scenery and decorations used in the Zarzuela theater. The first steps of Luis Muriel y Lopez in this field were with his father, but soon he began his professional career alone, an example of this is his work in the comedy El hijo de la nieve and Adiós Madrid, La mascota, los mosqueteros grises, etc.
