Ricardo Arrendodo's interest in art began as a child, refusing to follow in his father's footsteps as a military man, at the age of twelve he began his training under the teachings of Matias Moreno. Later he moved to Madrid to begin his studies at the special school of Painting, Sculpture, and Engraving, where one of the teachers who most influenced him was Carlos de Haes. However, this first influence changed after his trip to Paris. After returning to Spain he participated in several National Exhibitions of Fine Arts, being awarded the third medal in 1884 and 1895. During this time he also worked with a publishing house. Finally he settled in Toledo where he became a councilman of the city council, taking part in the commission of Monuments, where he was in charge of the intervention and restoration of them. His work is currently represented in the Prado Museum, the Museum of Zaragoza, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Toledo and the University of Santiago de Compostela, among other important institutions.
