Landscape painter and scenographer, Domingo Soler began his training at the Academy of Fine Arts in his native city, to later continue his studies in Barcelona, at the School of La Lonja. He was granted a scholarship by the Provincial Council in Paris between 1892 and 1893, where he worked with the set designer Corpesar. He finally completed his artistic training in Rome. He taught at the Italian School in Barcelona and later at the School of Arts and Crafts. He was also president of the Agrupación de Acuarelistas de Cataluña (Association of Watercolourists of Catalonia). He took part in various group exhibitions, and between 1913 and 1922 he organised annual solo exhibitions at the Sala Parés in Barcelona. He took part in various artistic competitions and was awarded the Drawing Prize of the "Barcelona Cómica", the Barcelona Antigua Prize, the Medal of the Exhibition of Art and Decorative Industries of Mexico and the Gold Medal for Catalan Landscapes. A follower of Vila i Cinca, his portraits of the Catalan landscape were a great success with critics and the public, although he was also noted for his scenes set in the 18th century. He is represented in the Museum of Sabadell and the Museum of Watercolour in Llançà.
