The Balearic Islands, and especially Majorca, were a focus of attraction in the last third of the 19th century and in the dawn of the 20th century for those painters who mainly stood out in the reinvention of the landscape genre. This painting is part of that desire for renewal, in which figures such as Santiago Rusiñol and Anglada Camarasa stood out, both inveterate lovers of Mallorca's intense light, its silent forests, its ancient stones and its crystal-clear waters. Here, the painter does not skimp on light and colour in his bright palette, close to contemporary fauvist solutions and heir to Mallorcan luminism.
