Painting of the Roman period of Tomás Martín Rebollo, a twilight landscape resolved with sketchy stroke, influenced by impressionism. Martín Rebollo studied art in Rome thanks to a pension granted by the Diputación de Granada.
Martín Rebollo began his training with the still life and flower painter Julián Sanz del Valle. However, the knowledge of Mariano Fortuny's painting made such a deep impression on him that, in 1883, he decided to move to Madrid to continue his studies at the San Fernando School of Fine Arts. He finally completed his training in Rome. On his return he obtained an honorable mention at the National Exhibition of Fine Arts in 1908, which encouraged him to return to Italy. He traveled the country painting popular scenes, and on his return to Spain he settled in Madrid, where he devoted himself to making copies in the Prado. His character, withdrawn and shy, did not help him to make his way in the art world despite being, along with Sorolla and Beruete, according to his pupil the painter Enrique Marín Sevilla, one of the three best of his time. He is represented in the Prado Museum and the Albaicín Foundation in Granada, as well as in various private collections.
