Follower of EUGENIO LUCAS VELÁZQUEZ (Madrid, 1817 - 1870).
"Condemned by the Inquisition".
Oil on canvas.
Measurements: 50 x 41 cm; 64 x 53 cm (frame).
The painting is a copy of "Condemned by the Inquisition", a canvas painted by Lucas Velázquez in 1860. It is a scene with a woman parading on the back of a donkey, marked with a hood on her head and the cross on her chest, who resignedly endures her walk among the people. The donkey is driven by a muleteer who rebukes her with his gesture, while an old woman kneels imploringly as she passes by.
