BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Flemish school of the 17th century.
"Still life with fruits and seafood".
Oil on canvas. Relined.
Measurements: 50 x 40 cm.
This painting is part of the Baroque genre of still life, a pictorial tradition that reached its peak in the seventeenth century and continued strongly in the eighteenth century, especially in Dutch and Flemish painting. The chromatic palette is rich in intense reds, greens and vibrant oranges. Each fruit seems to be captured at its moment of maximum splendor, as well as the shells of crustaceans. The black background accentuates the theatricality of the scene, a characteristic resource of the Baroque, which enhances the luminosity and volume of the textures, giving the composition a dramatic depth.
