The artist of the present composition offers us a scene of Calvary that summarizes the Passion of Christ. We see Jesus already dead, still on the cross, without the bleeding wound in the side (that is, without delving into the baroque pathos) and the head fallen on the right shoulder. At the foot of the cross we see other figures: Mary Magdalene, St. John the Evangelist and the Virgin Mary supported by the Holy Women (Mary Salome and Mary of Cleophas). At a formal level, it should be noted that this is a work in which the color, attenuated and with a harmonious palette, is subordinated to the drawing, the true protagonist of the composition.
