Katrin Fridriks, born in 1974 in Reykjavik, Iceland, is an abstract painter known for exploring concepts such as speed, gravity and the relationship between humans and the forces of nature. Her work is distinguished by experimentation with techniques and the physical use of her own body, which allows her to develop a unique style. In addition to his paintings, he has worked with art installations and land art.
His work has been exhibited in important international venues such as the Venice Biennale and the Kjarval Museum in Reykjavik. He has received special commissions from institutions and brands such as Bentley, Ralph Lauren and Bacardi Martini. His painting is characterized by the accumulation of energy through arrested movement, which allows the work to be reactivated each time a viewer looks at it, creating a unique visual and emotional experience.
Fridriks' work stands out for its ability to combine abstraction with the viewer's physical experience, transforming the painting into a living action in constant discovery.
His works have been exhibited at the Venice Biennale - Palazzo Bembo, the Kjarval Museum, the Icelandic Art Center in Reykjavik, the Museum Arts Center in Seoul and the Liverpool Biennial, and are part of numerous public and private collections. Fridriks has received special commissions from Bentley's centenary, while Frieze - London, a cover for Mark Miodownik's Royal Award-Winning book, POW, Michael Goss Foundation, Ralph Lauren Foundation, Bacardi Martini, Land Rover, as well as the French Ministry of Youth and Sports.
