MARIA HELENA VIEIRA DA SILVA (Lisbon, 1908 - Paris, 1992).

Maria Helena Vieria soon developed her artistic interest, and in 1928 she moved to Paris, where she studied sculpture at first, and then opted for painting (a year later). In this city she was a student of Friesz, Léger and Bissière, and also married the Hungarian painter Arpad Szenes. During the Second World War she went to Brazil until 1947, when she returned to Paris.
Her work is preserved in numerous private collections around the world, and in prominent institutions.
