DESCRIPTION

BRAM VAN VELDE (Netherlands, 1895 - France, 1981).
Untitled.
Lithograph, copy 10/100.
Signed and justified.
Measurements: 97,5 x 63 cm.
Dutch painter close to tachism and lyrical abstraction, Bram van Velde began his career as a painter and decorator in The Hague very young, and in 1922 he obtained a scholarship that allowed him to travel around Europe. He visited Germany and became acquainted with expressionism, an influence that would radically change his work. At the end of the 1920s he was already in France, participating in the Salon des Indépendants. Since then his work will begin to be recognized, and from the sixties he will obtain outstanding awards, including the appointment as a knight of the Order of Arts and Letters of France (1964) and the Order of Orange-Nassau (1969). He is currently represented in the Tate Gallery in London, the Museum of Geneva, the Museum of Fine Arts in Bilbao and the Art Institute of Chicago, among other public and private collections.
