Joaquín Pacheco is a painter from Madrid whose training and artistic experience has been closely linked to France, as he has lived for much of the sixties and seventies in Paris. In his works he reflects an interest in the portrait of urban life, treating his pieces from a style close to realism, but with metaphysical and expressionist nuances that he has been developing since the late 1950s. He is inspired by the paintings of Francis Bacon, Richard Lindner and Edward Hopper. His pieces have as a backdrop the places where the painter has traveled (New York, London, Tokyo, and Amsterdam) showing in them a very personal language based on the simplification of forms and the emphasis of the silhouette. Today his work can be found in important art centers such as the Senate Collection, the Madrid Community Collection, the Reina Sofía Modern Art Center, the Bank of Spain Collection. Museum of Fine Arts of Alava, Fundesco Foundation, Juan Manuel Caneja Foundation, Fundación Empresa Pública, Argentaria Collection, Banco Santander Investment Collection, Telefónica Publicidad Collection and the Unión Fenosa Collection.
