Born into a family of artists in Paris, Karl Lagasse is a French artist and sculptor. At the age of seven, he met the sculptor César Baldaccini, who will influence his work. A few years later, he explored graffiti in Paris metro. And under the guidance of the artist Yvaral Vasarely, son of the Hungarian artist Victor Vasarely, Karl Lagasse integrated his collages. Karl Lagasse's artistic career began in 1996, when at the age of 15 Karl Lagasse sold his first work in Antwerp. In 2003, Karl prepared his first exhibition in Paris, where he exhibited works combining the techniques of painting and collage. His first solo exhibition took place in 2006. During this exhibition, he presented his famous "Buildings" at the Isy Brachot gallery in Brussels; 2009 was a year of consecration for the artist. He gained notoriety through his "one dollar" sculptures, being today among the ten best sculptors in the world under 30 years of age by Artprice. In 2012, the artist is cited as part of the fifty best contemporary artists tying his inspirations through American icons. He made "Construction", a bronze sculpture, for the 65th Cannes Film Festival and is the story of the last one. In 2014, he was approached by Maserati to collaborate in celebrating the centenary of the Italian marque and the global launch of the new Ghibli. A year later, Karl Lagasse and Maserati worked together again on the realisation of a monumental installation entitled "A Piece of Heaven on Earth". In 2016, on the occasion of the Art Paris Art Fair, President Francois Hollande personally congratulated the artist on the success of his work "one dollar", a two-metre high bronze sculpture exhibited in the Grand Palais. In 2017, Karl Lagasse created the trophy for the winners of the 43rd edition of the American Deauville Film Festival.
