BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Box of drawing instruments and compasses Norton & Gregory, Ltd. England, ca. 1920-1930.
A complete set of technical drawing instruments made of steel, with some elements in bone or vegetable ivory. The rigid case is lined in textured green imitation leather, with rounded corners and an unengraved metal plate on the lid. The interior is lined in blue velvet with the gilt stamped mark on the inside lid: Norton & Gregory, Ltd., London and Glasgow.
The case includes compasses of various types (adjustable, precision, spring), extenders, interchangeable tips, adapters and a technical pen. All the instruments fit into their specific housing, distributed in two superimposed levels that unfold by means of internal hinges. The box has all of its parts, in functional condition.
Case with wear on corners and edges, typical of use and of the period. Interior with small stains and rubbing, without affecting the legibility of the mark or the condition of the instruments.
Measurements: 4 x 20.5 x 10.5 cm.
Norton & Gregory, Ltd. was a renowned British firm specializing in precision instruments for technical drawing and engineering, with headquarters in London and Glasgow. This case reflects the high level of quality and finish that characterized the brand during the first third of the 20th century. Its compact design, practical layout on two levels and the completeness of the set make it a piece valued by both collectors and professionals of historical technical drawing.
