Automaton toy from the Spanish house Payà, manufactured in the fifties. It represents a tourist carrying two suitcases with wheels. It works by winding mechanism. Made of screen-printed tinplate, the paint defines every detail of the clothing and face.
The Payá Hermanos company was an iconic Spanish firm founded in Ibi, Alicante, at the end of the 19th century. This company was one of the leading manufacturers of tinplate toys in Europe, famous for its handcrafted cars, trains, dolls and automatons that marked the childhood of many generations.
