This cash register, manufactured in the United States specifically for the Spanish market, is an important example of the history of commerce. The word "National" engraved on the top, is characteristic of the original models of the National Cash Register Company (NCR), one of the most influential companies in the manufacture of cash registers since the nineteenth century. Entirely made of embossed bronze, it features delicate ornamental motifs in Art Nouveau style, the dominant aesthetic of the time. Adapted for the Spanish market, it has mechanisms adjusted to the local currency of the time: pesetas and centimos.
