This model of telephone, known as "the violon" for its distinctive shape evoking the famous musical instrument, was manufactured in 1903 by the prestigious Société Industrielle des Téléphones (SIT) in Paris. The telephone is made of solid wood. The manufacturer's identification plate on the top front is a testimony to the prestige and authenticity of the piece. This model includes an innovative detail for the time: an additional receiver on the back, designed so that a second person could listen to conversations, an attribute that speaks of its advanced functional design. By 1903, when this telephone was manufactured, SIT was already recognized as a market leader, standing out for integrating unique functional and aesthetic elements, such as the additional receiver. The company played a key role in the expansion of the telephone network at the time, contributing to the advancement of modern communications.
