BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

French fan of the late nineteenth century - early twentieth century.
Shiny mother-of-pearl tahiti shell and hand-painted white lace with rhinestones.
Two rods in need of restoration.
Measurements: 30 x 56 cm.
During the XVIII and XIX century the social gatherings in public acts were the appropriate context for the ladies to show their new fashion acquisitions, of which the fans were the perfect complement. These became very important not only because of their usefulness, but also because the ladies developed a whole language around the use and arrangement of the fan. French fan from around 1900 with mother-of-pearl tahini shell. The country is made of delicate off-white lace.
