Baroque period frame, made of wood and veneered in ebony, the preferred wood for cabinetmaking finishes throughout Europe during this period, but especially in the Netherlands. It is an entirely molded frame, with numerous staggered bands, alternating smooth moldings s, reflecting the dynamic taste of the Baroque, of varying widths. It is a sober design, very much in keeping with the Dutch clientele of the time, mainly bourgeois, but at the same time a faithful reflection of Baroque aesthetics. In fact, there is a marked search for dynamism, which is reflected not only in the curly moldings but also in the alternation of different moldings, creating an agile rhythm, and also in the contrast so typical of baroque taste, here mainly a contrast of textures.
