BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Elizabethan sofa, ca. 1830.
Mahogany and lemongrass wood.
It shows signs of use and wear.
Measurements: 124 x 210 cm.
Elizabethan sofa made of mahogany wood, with an expressive structure of Empire heritage and a rich decoration that combines the carvings of feet and top with a careful vegetal marquetry of classic procedure in lemongrass, which occupies the front skirt and extends on the front of the arms, also appearing in the central area of the top. The design is raised on lion's feet with carved acanthus leaves, and the upper finial is made up of vegetalized turnstones worked with great quality. This rich decoration is combined with a mixtilinear upper profile based on recesses and protrusions, enriched with the beautiful natural grain of the mahogany.
