Mobile sculpture stand dating from the Art Nouveau period. It is a functional as well as decorative piece, designed to display sculptures or busts in elegant interiors. Made of solid pine wood, it has a sturdy structure but with a refined finish. It is raised on casters. It has a lifting mechanism combining wood and iron, which indicates an adjustable system to vary the height, ideal to adapt the presentation of sculptures. The rotating top allowed the sculpture to be easily rotated, which was especially useful for exhibitions in salons and galleries. Its versatile and adjustable design makes it suitable for displaying a wide range of sculptures. The surface has a beautiful patina, a sign of its age and use over time. This type of stand was common in artists' studios, museums and aristocratic residences in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when versatility was valued in the display of works of art. A similar mount was part of the collection of Edric Van Vredenburgh, auctioned at Sotheby's on April 13, 2022.
