BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Salamancan bargueño from the XVII century.
In walnut and bone.
With antique hardware.
Measurements: 60 x 98 x 44 cm; 81 x 75 x 49 cm; 97 cm (open width).
Bargueño of Salamanca model, also called of small columns, with a hinged front lid that rests on clamps with carved head in the shape of a scallop, typical of the Spanish bargueño of the XVII century. The lid is decorated on the outside with original metal plates cut out and fretworked. The lock shield is complex, with double espagnolette and balusters typical of the period on the sides. The exterior decoration is completed, on the sides, with arched handles with central lentil and long hinges with a cut-out profile, also very typical of this model. The heads of the nails that can be seen on the front take the form of scallops worked in relief, something that is again common in this type of bargueños. The interior sample is organized in drawers that present the front organized in two squares, carved in the form of diamond points, and the handles again take the form of a scallop. The central and lower street is composed of tympanums supported on columns, supported on turned bone columns. The central register takes the form of a complete façade, with a semicircular arch flanked by two small columns, entablature and triangular pediment.
It stands on a foot with six legs of carved and turned wood, the outer ones composed by superimposing fluted shafts and spools and the central ones, wider, in the form of a column with a shaft traversed by helicoidal grooves. The legs are raised on carved front shoes, and the intermediate ones are joined by an arcade of turned balustraded columns.
