BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

Floor lamp; twentieth century.
Patinated bronze and frosted glass shades.
Electrified.
It has slight wear.
Measurements: 199 x 33 x 33 cm.
This bronze floor lamp, dating from the twentieth century, represents an elegant synthesis between functionality and artistic expression, framed within the neoclassical aesthetic with echoes of Art Nouveau style.
The piece takes the form of a female figure, modeled with remarkable sculptural skill, whose slender silhouette and graceful posture give dynamism and naturalness to the composition. The woman, with delicate features and serene expression, holds with both arms raised a three-armed structure that acts as a support for the luminaries, whose arrangement emulates a floral bouquet. The opaline glass tulips, with texture in relief, are reminiscent of the buds of a flower about to open, a decorative resource characteristic of the Art Nouveau language, which sought inspiration in nature.
The bronze, worked with casting and patina techniques, alternates polished surfaces with areas of rougher texture, generating hallmarks that enhance the details of the dress, the curls of the hair and the jewelry adorning the figure's arms. The dress, tight to the body, is decorated with subtle gilded vegetal motifs, providing an ornamental dimension that emphasizes the sensuality and delicacy of the figure.
The sculpture rests on a cylindrical base, also made of bronze, with reliefs of scrolls and acanthus leaves, consolidating the stylistic coherence of the piece.
This type of lamp, beyond its utilitarian function, embodies the bourgeois taste for the combination of art and design, being a piece that evokes the search for beauty and refinement in the domestic interiors of the early twentieth century.
