DESCRIPTION
Table lamp DUNAIME, ca. 1930.
Gilded bronze and glass.
Measurements: 61 x 33 x 33 cm.
Table lamp designed by Georges Dunaime in the thirties. Its aesthetic is fully ascribed to the Art Deco style. The foot is made of gilded bronze. On a chiseled hexagonal base with wedges nested in each other rises a shaft with a tapered profile. The carved glass lampshade reproduces motifs of synthetic palmettes alternating with ovals.
Georges Dunaime, designer of bronze and silver works, exhibited at the famous Exposition Internationale des Arts décoratifs et industriels modernes of 1925 in Paris. Between 1922 and 1929, he also worked at the Manufacture Nationale de Porcelaine de Sèvres, the best of this period, and designed pieces at Baccarat 's (see Baccarat Museum link). This great artist shares his popularity with his colleagues of this fabulous period in France such as Edgar Brandt, Paul Kiss, J-J. Adnet, Simonet Freres, Sue & Mare, Andre Groult, Rulhmann, Paul Follot, Gagneau, J. Perzel, Genet & Michon.
