DESCRIPTION
Ceiling lamp; NOVERDY, Dijon, France, ca. 1930.
Gilded bronze and glass.
Measurements: 80 x 41 x 41 cm.
Ceiling lamp designed by Jean Noverdy. Of Art Deco period, its aesthetic shows the elegant and synthetic style of this movement. The bronze sheets draw a Greek cross decorated with floral festoons and a lampshade formed by four lobed leaves of frosted glass and cut with flowers and greca zizagueante.
In the 1920s, Jean Noverdy, a pupil of Mr. Dubret, created his own glassworks at 17 Place Bossuet, Dijon. To make the most of electric lighting, he designed lamps with shades mostly made of glass with two layers between which he sprayed colored enamels to give a marbled appearance. Molded glass vases and shades were also part of his production. He used the same techniques used by Daum Frères, André Delatte and Muller Freres in this period.Between 1926 and 1928, he was present at the Salon de la Société des Artistes Français in Paris.
