BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
MULLER FRÈRES. Luneville, France, ca. 1920.
"Anemones" lamp.
Artistic glass with cameo. Iron supports.
Signed "Muller Frères Lunéville" on the foot and on the lampshade.
Measurements: 55 x 28 x 28 cm.
Art Nouveau mushroom-shaped lamp in multilayer glass with acid-etched and lathe-carved decoration of red and mauve magnolias in bloom on an opalescent background. The wrought iron supports simulate the flower's leaf motif.
The Muller brothers, founders of the Muller Frères glassworks in Lunéville, are French art glassmakers of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods. They began working for Gallé, and later established a glass manufacture of their own in Luneville. Years later, production moved to Croismare, with the pieces being signed "Muller Croismare". The firm produced mottled glass and acid-etched cameo, mainly between 1905 and 1937.
